At the end of September, the “Digital History 2026” conference will take place in Salzburg, where we will be running a workshop on OES. The three-hour workshop “Online Publishing with the Open Encyclopedia System” provides an introduction to the web-based open-source platform Open Encyclopedia System (OES) for the creation, maintenance and publication of academic online encyclopaedias, lexicons, glossaries and curated knowledge portals in open access in  the humanities and social sciences.

The workshop will showcase applications from the field of history that successfully create content using OES and publish it in open access, as well as providing an introduction to using the software.

The workshop is aimed at those who wish to learn about the possibilities offered by this online publishing system, as well as anyone with a general interest in discussing multimodal and interactive open-source publications and processes.

A joint event organised by the Digital Research Infrastructure (DFI) division of FUB-IT, Freie Universität Berlin, and NFDI4Memory Data Literacy.
