Our DFG projects
Here you will find a compilation of our project activities within the context of OES. These are either our own DFG projects, or projects in which we are involved as applicants or project partner:
Edition on the Nazi genocide of the Sinti and Roma in Europe (from 2026)
Led by the Forschungsstelle Antiziganismus at Heidelberg University, and in collaboration with DFI at FUB-IT, the project aims to compile and publish a digital edition of selected source material. The OES application ‘Encyclopaedia of the Nazi Genocide of the Sinti and Roma in Europe’, which was published in 2024, will be enhanced as part of the project and linked to data in the edition.

Building and sustainung a community for the Open Encyclopedia System (ComOES) (ongoing)
The project aims to establish viable structures for exchange and cooperation between users of the Open Encyclopedia System (OES) platform, in the form of an OES community.

Keywords for the Study of the Arabic Literary and Manuscript Tradition (KALiMaT) (ongoing)
The project ‘KALiMaT. Keywords for the Study of the Arabic Literary and Manuscript Tradition’, led by Prof. Dr. Beatrice Gründler at the Institute of Arabic Studies, aims to develop a bilingual Arabic-English online living handbook.

From 1914-1918-online to the Open Encyclopedia System (completed)
The DFG project ‘From 1914-1918-online to the Open Encyclopedia System (OES)’ aimed to develop software for creating, publishing and maintaining online encyclopaedias for the humanities, cultural studies and social sciences. The OES code was published on GitHub in 2020.
