OES on Tour
Presentation of OES applications, software, and the community at various conferences.
News from Oct 05, 2026
Together with the OES community, we aim to promote OES as a standards-based, open publishing solution for online reference works. In September, OES, the OES community, and various OES applications were presented at three conferences:
At EADH 2026 in Kraków, OES was showcased in a poster highlighting its applicability to humanities research and teaching; the paper and poster are available on our publications page.
At Digital History 2026 in Salzburg, together with NFDI4memory, we introduced the Open Encyclopedia System and its potential for historical studies in a three-hour hands-on workshop. In a joint presentation with the Research Center on Antiziganism at Heidelberg University, we presented online encyclopedias as a digital strategy for marginalized research and educational contexts, using the online encyclopedia of the Nazi genocide of the Sinti and Roma in Europe as an example.
At Open-Access-Tage 2026 in Linz, we outlined our approach to the participatory development of the OES community as a component of OES’s long-term sustainability and reported on practical experiences and challenges. At the tool marketplace, OES was presented as a free publishing solution for online reference works in open access.
