At the poster session of the annual Digital Humanities conference in German-speaking countries (DHd 2026) in Vienna, the team of the DFG project 'Building and sustaining a community for the Open Encyclopedia System' presented the poster 'Communities as a component of research software substainability, exemplified on OES’.

The presentation focused on our results from the environmental analysis on the topic of research software communities in the digital humanities, the lessons learned from interviews with other DH software teams, and, based on this, our initial experiences with building the OES community.

At the conference, we sought to exchange ideas with other DH research software developers in order to discuss our experiences in building a community and to network.
